Trauma & Complex PTSD in NY

Trauma isn’t always a dramatic event. Sometimes it’s what didn’t happen: the care you never got, the safety that was missing, the feeling of being invisible when you most needed to be seen. Complex PTSD (CPTSD) can show up as emotional flashes of dysregulation, a deep sense of shame, trouble trusting others or yourself or patterns in relationships that leave you feeling drained, stuck, or like you’re always the problem.

You might feel:

  • Like you’re constantly overthinking

  • Numb or disconnected, even when things seem “fine”

  • Lost in a loop of people-pleasing, perfectionism, or self-criticism

  • Overwhelmed by small things, and underwhelmed by big things

  • Like your nervous system has never relaxed enough to feel safe

So what does healing look like?

In our work together, we’ll create a space that’s both steady and spacious. We’ll build safety slowly- through awareness, learning the language of your feelings, and cultivating deep compassion for the parts of you that had to survive. We’ll map patterns in your relationships, especially the ones in your relationship with yourself, help untangle protective strategies that may no longer serve you, and reconnect you to the grounded, intuitive core that you’ve always carried.

Some of the tools that we may use:

  • Somatic and mindfulness-based practices to calm the nervous system

  • Inner child and parts work (IFS) to heal from within

  • Emotionally focused exploration of your beliefs and attachment wounds

  • Humor, metaphors, and celebrating tiny victories (because let’s face it- trauma work can be heavy, but it doesn’t have to feel that way every single session)

Treatment isn’t a straight line. It’s more like a spiral: we’ll come back to the same places with new tools, new strength, and less shame. Over time, you’ll find more ease, more choice, and more YOU. Even if you’ve felt broken for a long time, there’s good news: your wholeness isn’t gone. It’s just been waiting for the right conditions.
